There are dangers of co-sleeping with young children. Adults can roll onto the baby, the adult’s movement may cause the baby to roll face-down, or the baby can get tangled in bedding. Infant suffocation deaths account for about 1000 deaths per year in the US. You should be careful if you decide to co-sleep with your child. Many parents enjoy it more for their own comfort of not having to leave their bed for night time feedings, etc. more than any actual benefit to the child. Some moms believe it creates more of a bond with the child. It's really a personal decision on whether you choose to co-sleep, but you should take precautions so that the child is as safe as possible. They should lay on their back, on a firm surface, with nothing around that can cover their face.
