hello!!!My baby is three months old. when she was born she was given formula in the hospital because her sugar was low. When we got home I was doing both: bottle feeding and breastfeeding, but because I wanted to only breast-feed her I stopped giving her formula and I've been exclusively breastfeeding for over a month. The thing is that she she is been having like mucus in her stool. Her stools are yellow and and sometime liquids. She is been gaining weight. In fact she is three months and weights 17 pounds. She is alert. Does not have fiver, or gases. Only this kind of mucus in her stool. her pediatrician asked me to stop breastfeeding for 48 hours because she might be intolerant to breast milk. Is that possible? I don't drink milk ever. What should I do? I really want to breastfeed, I even quit to my job to breastfeed because I was told that pomping was not as effective when it comes to milk production as putting her in my breasts. Please anyone!!!! I need advise, I even considered the idea to take to a gatroenterology!!!!!

I also exclusively breast feed my son and it sounds to me like you might have an oversupply of milk. Does your daughter have diaper rash that won't go away? She is not allergic to your milk - it's made especially for her! Your doctor sounds uneducated about breastfeeding. If you make an abundance of milk your baby could be getting too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. The hind milk has all the fat but she's having a hard time getting to the good stuff. Too much foremilk is hard for her to digest ( which may be why your doc thinks allergic) and can cause the stools you were talking about. Try feeding her from the same breast for 3 or 4 feeding. This will enable her to get the hind milk. It will also help stabilize your supply to a more normal amount. I highly recommend the book "the womanly art of breastfeeding" for any breastfeeding mom. It has answers to every possible question. I applaud you for exclusively breastfeeding! Don't let anyone talk you out of what's best for you and your daughter!

Yes she had a diaper rash , but I went away and it was not that bad. I also think thar my doctor does not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to breastfeeding. She saw a dirty diaper of my baby and said that it was not ok, that's why I was so concern. Thank you for your time and your help. I don't really know what is normal !!! This is my first baby!!!

I also exclusively breast feed my son and your daughters stools sound normal for a breast fed baby. Are the stools causing her to have a bad diaper rash? I was having similar problem when my son was 2 & 3 months but the problem was that I had an oversupply of milk. If u have an abundance of milk it can sometimes cause the baby to get too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. The fore milk has less fat
