Your right it does say that, how old is the baby that it is not registered yet?

She wrote: "Need to register my baby AND to get him a passport" I read that she needed info about both.

Michelle i think the child is registered but she is trying to get a passport and has no way to contact the father who live is Italy? She is not part of the European Union (and we all know that Ireland is really in a mess after Britain voted to exit) so I get her desire to get her child a passport while she can. I know in the US, you cannot get a passport unless both parents are present, you have an order of sole custody, a death certificate or an affidavit that the dad is in prison and cannot attend the passport application interview.

Are you asking about registering the birth?
If you are an Irish national you submit the parperwork at the courts. If you aren't an Irish national you will need to go the consulate of your country to register the baby as the same nationality (if you want), you do also need to register the birth in Ireland as well though.

Much will depend on whether you named the father on the birth document. If you did, you will likely need to have him legally surrender his authority over the child to get a passport.

You might go to the local magistrates office and ask where to go from there. I am not familiar in Ireland as I am an American. You could try a local lawyer or solicitor as I believe they are called as well.

Depends on what country, state, or province you live within. In the USA, until a child is 16 years old both parents have to sign a form to get a passport for the child and each parent must have permission of the other to leave country or state in some if not most cases. At 16 years old a child can have a passport with one parent's signature. You need to find out what the laws are where you are to get one done. Since we do not know where you live we can not even suggest the right resources for you to go to.
