Yes it could make her sick to feed her oatmeal this young babies don't start eating solids till around 6 months it can give her gas and constipation which makes for a very cranky baby. It depends on the baby but generally you should offer food every 2-3 hours they digest very quickly and if she is sleeping then you need to wake her after 3-4 hours to eat they can easily sleep through hunger signals but they still need to eat. You can contact me on here if you ever have a question I've got a 19 month old and 8 month old so I've done all the new baby things very recently.

I don't remember the name of the technique but it's basically a way to simulate the womb. You swaddle the baby ( in case you don't know lay her on a baby blanket her head at one corner, with her hand down at her sides pull the left side of the blanket over her and tuck it under her side, then the right side just the same, and then bring the bottom up and tuck the end into the top there are plenty of websites that will show you picture of how to do it too) place a pacifier or your clean finger in her mouth, hold her tight to your body, rock her back and forth (a rocker is great but even just on your bed swinging back and forth works) and make a "shhhhhh" sound. It sounds crazy but it worked in like 5 minutes with my kids. When she is asleep start stopping each thing like stop rocking then stop "shhh"ing I left them swaddled to sleep. Hope that helps

Do not give your newborn solids! You say your not near anyone but I'm sure you can call the hospital where you delivered, I know where I delivered they had an infant care line to call with any questions. Also you should ask your pediatrician these questions if you are unsure, you usually go 2 days after you get home, 1 week, and a two week check up so hold off on anything but formula till you speak to them.

Just some additional info at a week old your babies stomach is only the size of a cherry, it doesn't hold much and it's quickly digested which is why the frequent feedings. My kids ate every 2 hours or less the first month.

Little babies do feed often because the food is digested much more quickly than an older baby or child. Is there a baby health clinic near you? If so, they may have some pamphlets for you that contain information about feeding infants. Your local pharmacy might even have some information for you. Try not to stress sweetheart, and don't forget to ask for help if you need it :-)

How many wet and dirty diapers is she making a day? She should making 6-8 wet diapers and at least 1 dirty diaper that will help you know she is eating enough. But yes it's a good idea to call the doctor and before you do maybe write down the questions your having so you don't forget anything I know I always did if I didn't write it down in those early weeks.

Not before she is 3mo old. If you are breastfeeding you can supplement feedings with formula to fill her up. Newborns eat almost constantly.

Well you're not going to do everything right no mom ever does it's just about doing the best you can. You talked about doing homeschool is it a fully independent study or are you working with a program that have deadlines? If you're working with deadlines then maybe you can talk with them about taking a break for a couple weeks without hurting your grades so that you have time to heal and get used to being mommy or maybe cutting back a class. Is there someone that can help you with things like housework

teat are what the baby sucks from the bottle the end bottle , Do you time her feeds. Try timing with the next feed and try to stop her and bring up the wind then offer the bottle again , and try out that link I gave you :)

Try burping her after every ounce or two she could be spitting up so much because she's getting gas bubbles and it'll help to burp her more often during feeding. But if it honestly looks like she is spitting up most of her bottle or that she is really cranky after she eats then you should call the doctor to get their advice.

Please do not give her any baby food at all. Formula or breastmilk only. Newborns need to be fed on demand, this is sometimes every 2 hours or more. They won't overeat at this age.

You can also tell if she is getting hungry by them sucking their hands.....

oatmeal sounds a bit too young i didnt start cereal until 3 months old....however i spoon fed her. its not proven to sleep better....i remember my DD shes 2 now but back when she was a week she drank pretty much an ounce everyhour, but fed every 2-4 hours 2-3 1/2 ounces.... if she finishes her bottle i would give another ounce, you can kinda tell when they are full.

I would feed her upon demand, get a notebook and write down each time a bottle was given and how many ounces she drank of that bottle. this will help as it helped me out!

Do not feed her anything but formula she is to little to digest it even if she could swallow it. You need to be feeding her every 2 hours at this point and she will stop when she is full every baby eats a different amount. If she is spitting up alot after she eats you've over fed that's how you'll know about what she needs.
