The cost of Daycare keeps going up. I'm not sure what to do or cut back so we can afford it. My hubby and I are already working 2 jobs each. If it wasn't for health insurance. I would be better off if I stayed home. I WOULD LOVE to be a home mom, but can't because of health insurance. Any ideas on a way to make daycare affordable?

One other thing to look into would be a nanny share. I know that daycare costs can be astronomical is some areas. Often, if you live somewhere where the daycare is especially expensive, a nanny will be cheaper if you have two or three children who need care. What some families do is share the nanny... so the nanny has the children from two families for the day instead of just one.

You can also apply for vochers for child care. They are provided in every state.

Stacey,

Where I live, the state I am in that is, DHS is called the Department of Human Services and they over see the Division of Child and Family Services, Food Stamps, and Medicaid. They also have a department that covers licensing of the Day Care providers.

How old are your children? How many kids do you have? There are programs that you can take your children to that are for low income families. My son is in first grade and my daughter is in Preschool and she goes to a wonderful preschool that only charges a small amount of money a week. I work part-time and I am a single mother.

I hate to say it but everything all over is going up not just child care. Check with your local DHS office and see if you can get a voucher to help pay for it or whatever your family services is called there.
