So my son is now 17 months old and STILL doesn not sleep through the night! Has maybe once or twice before and that is it. He is still breastfeeding (I would like to stop but he doesn't seem to want to give it up) he uses it mostly for just comfort and to go to sleep. I have never been able to get him down to sleep without it. He has been sleeping in me and my husbands bed from pretty much the begining (which I will not being doing with the next child) because now it is at the point where he is getting to big and I can not sleep comfortably with him in bed anymore and I just wake up drowsy and my body aching because I sleep on the edge of the bed...Does anyone have any tips for me to get him to sleep in his own bed??? I will lay with him and nurse him until he falls asleep and then sneek into my bed but he wont sleep for more than an hour and a half in there :/ I can not try (nor do I agree with it) the "cry it out method" because when he gets upset and crying he throws up :( I am out of options and don't know what to do :(

Have you talked to your pediatrician about weening ideas? Maybe you just need to get him weened before you try getting him to sleep on his own

Well one of the problems is that he doesn't like milk, which is one of the main reasons I am still nursing. I've tried all kinds and he just wants to nurse. He will drink water/juice in a sippie cup during the day but still wants to nuse otherwise. I feel stuck :(

Have you tried giving him a sippy cup of milk and laying him in the crib to drink it? He needs to learn to fall asleep on his own, or he will never sleep by himself. My son was like that (only he wasn't breast fed) He was so use to me rocking him to sleep he would never let me put him down or sleep on his own. We had to start laying him down on his own and we would turn a movie on and he would watch it till he fell asleep. You just have to find what works for your child. once He is use to falling asleep on his own he will start sleeping by himself more. My son now sleeps on his own, he only gets up maybe once a week and mainly when he is sick
