Way too young. Rice cereal will not give her the nutrients she needs. My daughter wasn't premature, but she was born below the 3rd percentile in weight (so she was premmie size) and she wasn't interested in solids until she was about 8 months. My son, on the other hand, was a big baby and started to eat solids at 5 1/2 months. The general guideline is 6 months because firstly your child's tummy isn't ready and secondly, the nutrients from breastmilk or formula are all they need and are far more important that solid foods.

All a 3 month old needs is breastmilk or formula. Rice cereals aren't introduced until 6 months old, unless you are told otherwise by a doctor.
