Help! My 12 month old won't eat solid foods! He loves his stage 2 baby food and formula.

I want to wean him from the bottle, but am afraid he won't get enough nutrition since he won't eat regular food. Everytime we try some crackers, puffs, etc he either gags or spits it out. I'm worried about his choking, since he gags on stage 3 foods. His pediatrician says it's ok and to get him calories any way I can, but he's has to start eating table food at some point!

Don't worry as long as your baby is putting on weight then he is getting enough food. My daughter was on sloppy baby foods until she was about 16 months, for two reasons really, one she did not get her teeth through until 13 months and the other because like your child she just choked all the time. Chewing is a learnt response and some children take a little longer than others. As long as you keep offering finger foods then there is nothing wrong with this. It just takes a little longer sometimes. Don't worry.

Just because he hates it today doesn't mean he wont like it tomorrow. Keep trying daily. Also it may help if you show him you like it too. My daughter did not eat enough to keep a bird alive at that age now she stuggles with her weight.
