Try swaddling him....I know he is older to be swaddled, but being cradled in the swing. boppy or your arms is what he is use to, so swaddling will help with the transition. There are some bigger size swaddle blankets that you can find (target and walmart have them). To help with the reflux put a stack of books or magazines under the feet of one end of his bed. This will elevate the bed and angle it. This will help so he is not laying flat. This trick can also be done when babies are stuffed up and can't breathe well due to a cold.

You can also try to swaddle with his arms out....if the wedge does not work. My middle child loved to be swaddled, but had to have her arms free. My third was the opposite....had to have her arms wrapped, but legs loose.
