Help! My 9yo daughter won't stop stealing food!

My 9 year old daughter will not stop stealing sweets! We keep only a small amount of sweets in the house which are designated for after-meal treats or a special occasion, and my daughter keeps taking these without permission (when my husband and I arent looking) and hiding the wrappers in her room or behind the bathroom sink. She knows what she is doing is wrong (hence the wrapper hiding) and dislikes being punished (of course), but nothing we are trying is successful! I'm afraid that this is going to turn into an eating disorder! She is otherwise a healthy girl (not obese)- on track physically and mentally. There is always available fresh fruit & veggies! This has been happening on and off since she was about 6, but at 9.5 she should know better! Any suggestions?

The more you limit something the more they want it she feels she has to sneak it in order to have it so then she wants it more. So just don't limit what she has only buy it when you intend to have them eat it.

Maybe try not keeping it in the same spot all the time if you have been. That way she likely won't be able to get a hold of it.
