Help! My almost 1 year old son has never slept through the night! At first it was a bad habit he got into of nursing all through the night, now that he doesn't do that he has been waking up all through the night for months with horrible gas pains. I have taken him to the doctor several times and they don't seem to think anything is wrong. He wakes up just screaming throwing himself around and then about 5 to mins later her lets out very loud gas. He does this anywhere from 4 to 10 times per night. I have tried mylicon, gripe water, changing diet for me and him since i am still breastfeeding. Does anyone know of anything i could try or ever had one of your children go through this??

Thank you for the advice and comfort Kim!!! Did they ever find out what was wrong with your little one? I really hope my little one out grows whatever is causing all of this, or the doctor can figure out what it is and get it treated. Do you think babies can have IBS? (irritable bowel syndrome)

Awww yeah I asked about the swallowing cuz my son seemed to have problems with reflux and it was like he would swallow his own spit up/stomach acid or whatever it is. That's really tough, it's frustrating when the doctor can't see what's going on, my son was younger and had twitches in his legs and stuff and the doctors wanted me to get it on camera since they couldnt see. wtf right? I mean I understand they have to see to get an idea, I dunno.. haha anyway hopefully things get better, poor gassy baby. :( I hope you find the right solution!

Thanks Kim for the reply! He doesn't spit up at all anymore, he used to when he was younger and thats what the doc said, that he had acid reflux. He has always had a lot of gas and his doctor said he had a bit of an immature gut when he was about 2 months old, but he assured me that it was matured now and he doesn't think there is anything serious wrong. It's weird though because he is fine during the day, no problem getting the gas out and no pain. Thats why it's hard because the doctor can't see him in the middle of the night when he is just throwing himself around drawing his knees up and screaming in pain. I haven't noticed him swallowing randomly but i will def keep a watch for that.

I'm def no expert and the gripe water or gas drops usually helped my son, but maybe he's also got a little bit of acid reflux? does he spit up a lot during the day, or do you ever hear him just swallow randomly? if not, I'm sorry but just thought I could help. Best of luck to you and I am sure he will sleep through the night soon, maybe a change in formula?
