My 1 month old wants to eat every hour. My baby drinks breast milk during the day (I pump due to latch issues) and she drinks formula at night. My doctor told me that she should be drinking 3-4oz every 3 hours. But my baby cries like crazy when I try to do this. She only sleeps 1hr 1/2 during the day and night. The doctor said by getting her on a 3 hour schedule she begin to sleep more. I'm getting ready to go back to work in 2 weeks so I would like to have her sleeping a little more during the night. What does everybody else do to get your little one to eat more and sleep more?

Your baby is still young. For breast fed babies it is not unusual for them to eat every 1-2 hours when they are that young. It does get better as they get older, but until then you might be feeding about every 1-2 hours for awhile. My middle child did the every 1 hr around the clock (day and night) until she was 2 months old (8wks) and then started to go between 2-3 hrs at 8 wks. Formula fed babies tend to go longer between feedings as breast milk digests faster and easier then formula does. Right now feedings should be on demand not on a schedule. This helps get your milk supply up. The more demand the more milk you produce.

I had to do breast milk + formula bc my breast milk wasn't enough at first your breast only produce what you use so if u pump 4 oz 10 times a day you would need to up your pumping to more then baby needs to have excess milk - it is easier however( ESP if your going back to work soon) to supplement w formula directly after breast feeding to make sure baby is full . Lots of luck - God Bless you: )

Is it a case that you do not produce enough milk ? At one month old let your baby drink as much as fills their belly so that they sleep my baby used to fall asleep breast feeding so I'd have to wake her up or she'd be hungry in an hour feed as much as you like also try singing or talking to keep the baby awake a lil longer during the day it's natural for infants to sleep at odd times but try a schedule you feel comfortable with- ur baby will follow
