Help my child with speech development

I have a 18 month old, and I am concerned that he isn't developing his language correctly. Is there something I can do? The books I read say he should have a vocabulary of 10 words. He says only about 3. Should I be worried?

neither of my nephews had much of a vocabulary until they were 2 and both are just fine. I wouldn't worry too much unless he is showing other signs of developmental problems. if you are really worried you should just ask his doctor but the best advise I can give you is that each child develops at their own pace. I have 4 girls and 2 nephews and all of them did things in a different order and at different times. Take care and God Bless!

A lot will develop in the next 6 months. 18 months is still pretty young to be worried. Just keep encouraging him to say words and kept talking to him. If by 2 yrs old he is still only saying 3 words then talk to your doc and your local school for an evaluation.
