its a new thing he wont go upstairs on his own and becomes hysterical ! he is twelve and im at a loss at what to do help !

That could be a totally different issue! Yes, it is very normal for people with ASD to hear sounds that others cannot. He could be hearing plumbing banging, temperature change in boards as they pop and move about from a season change, house settling, or even a mouse or insect. He could also be hearing something from a neighbors house or a nearby road. It may be hard since he's already decided it's a ghost, but earplugs/headphones often do help with this particular problem! You may want to explain (and/or search sounds on YouTube) the different noises a house can make, and how it's entirely normal, not scary.

yes he has a minister and i may well get him up to deal with it ! but this has really come to a head tonight he is still periodically scream out for me now while he is in bed insisting he can hear it banging around , but none of my other children can hear this noise. i wonder if he is hearing things ?? is this normal for an aspie ??

You may need to find something that he has belief in to help. Will a minister/priest bless the house with him there, if he has faith? Any other ideas?
