My 5 month old(who used to sleep 8+ hrs) has been waking up screaming almost every hour on the hour. The only way I can get him back to sleep is rocking and shushing him, then as soon as I put him down he starts screaming. I'm at a loss...

Yes I was thinking it was gas...he just started solids a few wks ago and I think the green veggies are kicking his butt(literally!) I actually have been "sleeping" sitting up on the couch for a week now. I will try the bath..do you know if Gas drops or Gripe water actually work??

Also, gas can be a problem - maybe try swaddling him? It can help sooth as well as gets the gas to come out. Make sure you check all his toes and diaper area for hairs - I know it sounds odd, but it happens a lot more than people think and it can cause serious problems - who'd think a silly hair could be so bad but it can be. Maybe a warm bath to mellow him out? And maybe just put him in a baby carrier and let him sleep on you - I used to have to do this when I ran out of options and I would nap in the recliner. It's not conducive to very good sleep for you, but it can give you some rest from the screaming. Just some tips. I had a very needy infant and now have a very needy toddler who never sleeps regularly no matter what I've tried so I feel your pain! :( hang in there!
