My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 years now. My cycle is normally very regular, I recently missed my period, the day after I missed my period I decided to put my fear of heartbreak aside and take a test. To my surprise it was positive! Anxious as I was I decided not to let my excitement get the best of me I then tested first thing the next 3 mornings only to receive big fat negatives.. Basically breaking my heart and confusing me beyond belief. I called my OBGYN and she said for me to come in for a test but said that it would be urine because they were just as accurate as blood and said it it was negative she would prescribe me some medication to force my body to start. I definitely do not want to do this for fear of actually being pregnant and this medication causing a miscarriage.. Please help!!

What are the health risks by not taking the medication to jump start your period? Personally, I would wait a couple of months to see if you get your period and what not. Sometimes, when you're too early, the hormone won't show up for awhile. I knew after two weeks I was pregnant because of the changes to my breast, but the test didn't read until I was nearly four weeks along. Also, there is such a thing as false positive/ negative; where the testing strips are too old. I know in my OBGYN, I tested "negative" once with a store bought pregnancy test. After five more all positive, I didn't have a doubt that I was. I would check the expiration dates for the tests at the store.
