First things, I've already called my midwife and haven't heard back from her yet so I'm kind of wondering whether or not to panic. On wednesday I went into preterm labor at 2 days shy of 34 weeks gestation. So they stopped my labor and gave me the shots to help mature baby's lungs. but since then, his movement has decreased drastically. He's usually quite the little dancer and now.... I've tried all my normal tricks but they don't seem to be working. There's a walk in clinic close to my house I'm considering hobbling to, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? is it normal?

I would go in then. To me, that's not enough movement. Call her again and if she's not there, just tell the nurse/on call person that you're coming in. Now.

I'll be praying for you and your booger! Try not to freak out too much. Take nice breaths, grab a snack and your hospital bag, and just go in.

thanks ladies maybe I'll try something cold then. normally just me changing positions is enough to get him rolling and kicking but that hasn't worked. I even pushed on him to make him roll over and got no response. I'm hoping my midwife will call me back within the next few minutes but Ill try cold in the meantime. I'm kind of freaking out!

Are you still getting at least 10 kicks/movements an hour?

I would be nervous too, but they do start to decrease in movement towards the end as they get larger. If you're still getting those 10 kicks, try to set your mind at ease. When did you call your midwife? Do they have a nurse on call line you can try to talk to? If she hasn't called back in a few hours I would try again. If you are feeling very little to no movement, I would hobble/waddle, just for your own ease of mind. Stressing doesn't help you or baby. You're close to the end! And then you get to worry even more! ;)

I wouldn't take a hot bath, that's a no no during pregnancy anyway, but the ice pack trick always worked for my kids- it was kinda funny!

Try some apple/orange juice, take a hot bath - or apply a cold ice pack where you feel baby - even try music on your belly.

If none of these things work - I would head in and get baby heartbeat checked and make sure there are no problems, chances are he's tired from the labor scare ect and just sleeping away, but to keep yourself from worrying if you can't feel movement I would go get checked :)

Good luck to you & baby!
