My boy did this. I talked to the doctor, and he told me that sometimes after an illness with diareah(sp), this intestines are still sensitive and can last a few months. We had to cut lactose out of his diet and used soy milk for a few months. Try cutting milk out of her diet for 10days, and introduce it again. She should be fine.

If the doctor thinks it is lactose intolerance, cut all dairy from your diet (and I mean everything that has dairy in it) and it will clear from your breast milk in three weeks. However if she didnt have this problem before and it is late to be developing this and she is still having diarrhea, maybe she is just extremely irritated from the gastro. Cut down on the foods your are giving her, stick with pasta no sauce, plain rice, plain potatoes, mashed carrots, apple sauce (not fresh apples) and see if in a couple days this helps things out. Otherwise I would seriously consider getting a second medical opinion on what is going on with her.

Ditto Kate. Though if this JUST started recently and you haven't changed your diet recently.... I highly doubt it's the lactose. 10 months is kind of late to develop that... I would think in my highly unprofessional opinion, at least.

My 6 month old nephew is intolerant to the dairy in his mom's diet (which she has cut out for him... he's fine now), but it was a problem from VERY early on.

I hope you figure it out. I'd keep going back to the doctor (or different ones) until someone gives you an answer that helps solve the issue.

Do you think she's just stressed out from being in a day care? Is her appetite okay? Also my son (he was 1 1/2 at the time) had a bug where he vomited for a day and then had diahrea for weeks...it lasted a long time but he had a good appetite and seemed to feel fine after that initial day of vomiting. She might just have something similar. I'd say if she's eating and has energy and acts normal, she just needs to get it out of her system. Don't freak out just yet.

thanks everyone yeah i dont think my doctor knows much about it but i am going to see what happens cutting dairy out of her diet for two weeks and see if it makes a difference and she is starting to come off the breast so that wont be an issue for much longer but i guess its soy milk for her

Yea, I think a trip to a pediatric GI specialist would be a good idea.
