I really need help, i have never ever missed a period or for that matter been late. But my period was due on the 2nd May, i had 3 negative test. Today i woke to bleeding. Is this normal? My periods usually last 7days and my last period in April only lasted 2! If i am not pregnant is it normal to be 14 days late for my period? Any advice will be hughely apprecitated. Thankyou x

Hi Louise, There are all sorts of reasons why periods get out of kilter, some will be harmless and some will need attention. Pregnancy is obviously one of them, other reasons include stress (lots on, not enough sleep etc), hormonal imbalances and a whole bunch of common and less common things.

I would suggest that you see your Dr. If it is harmless then he/she can put your mind at rest and it is something that needs attention then things can be put into action.

If in addition to the unusual period, you have pain that is not normal for you and any other symptoms such as altered bowel/bladder habits, nausea, consider seeing your Dr sooner rather than later. If you have severe pain, are feeling unwell, fever etc I would get it checked it out now. Hope all is well

How much bleeding? It is possible that it *could* be implantation bleeding, or it *could* be a miscarriage, just depending on what is going on and the level of bleeding. If I were you, I would consider going to see the doctor and getting a test. Even if it isn't a pregnancy or miscarriage, there is something going on, it is worth getting it checked out any time your cycle is abnormal.

All good Louise. When it comes to weird things happening in our bodies it can certainly be disturbing and worrying. I reckon that sometimes the worry it causes us is worse that what is actually happening. I would definitely go get it checked out.

Jodi - the bleeding is just as my periods usually are. Prior to the bleeding i had all pregnancy symptons, sickness, headaches, tender breasts.
