Help! Poo issues

Help me for the love of god. My 3.5 yr old girl is having major poo issues. She expects her poo to come out right away after the urge. If it comes quick she is ok but if she has to wait even a minute she freaks out asking "where's poo poo?" Over and over. She goes through a 10/10 nuclear meltdown. I'm talking running full steam into walls, doors. Slamming head into tables. Hard stomping with bare feet until her toes are red and swollen. This goes on for an hour it's heartbreaking. It's like she's possessed. She is on lactulose otherwise she would withhold. She had a few bad bowel movements when she was 2 so I think she's psychologically traumatized. We are at our wits end. Please any suggestions or anyone experience this?

That's ok. Hope it works for you and that the Lactulose is doing the trick. It is good stuff.
It's good that you are giving her lots of water. Milk is also good, sometimes, for helping you to go.

Thanks Christina! We will try that. We've been giving her a lot of water in order to keep the poo soft. We are terrified that one painful poo episode and we'll be in even bigger trouble. It's the anger when the poo doesn't come immediately that's terrifying. Running full steam into walls and stomping until her toes are swollen. It's heartbreaking. We don't want to punish her for it and make it even more of a negative experience.

Hi Jeff
My sister-in-law had a similar issue with her son when he was about the same age as your daughter.
When he said he needed a poo she would kneel in front of him and get him to squeeze her fingers so that he was concentrating on that and not on trying to go.
At this age they are not aware of how to use the correct muscles in order to do what they need to.
Hope that's helpful.
