Help with 10yo Step Daughter

I am a 25 year old step mum to a 10yo. I met her father when she was 2 1/2 and have been together ever since.

When she was young she lived with her bio mum and my hubby and i had her every second weekend.

In 2008 my hubby and i got married and her bio mum never come and picked her up from our weekend visit. We then recieved a letter from a lawyer stating she no longer wanted contact with her due to us getting married.

For a couple of years prior to us getting married my step daughter was really badly behaved but since then it has been hell!!!!

We have taken her to see a councellor but she will not open up to them.

She is constantly being naughty eg, she got a new pair of glasses a month ago and on the weekend she snapped them in half because she said she was sick of them, also tells me and my hubby that she hates us, hurts her little sister for attention (her sister is only 2), and speaks rudely to everyone she is around.

Please anyone help me!!!!!!

Have you consulted your physician about any of this perhaps your daughter needs to be not only in councelling but might need to see a psychiatrist, I am sure the abrupt departure of her mother is a stress factor for her and she definitely needs to be talking to someone about it but it could also be something else and psychiatrist can help determine if this is just a pissed off little girl or if it is a medical issue. My son has something called Oppositional defiance disorder and it causes a lot of the behaviors that you are describing

Thanks Michelle i spoke to the doctor yesterday and my hubby is taking her this week to see her. I would just like to findout because this behaviour is really starting to put a strain on our marriage as he works away for 5 days at a time.
I have heard of ODD and spoke to the doctor yesterday and she thinks it is highly likely she has that or ADD/ADHD.
Thanks for replying
