That seems like a reasonable kind of birthday party. At least you have not considered (I assume here) a venue style party that is themed and all costing so much a head per kid /adult. I would keep it as simple as possible. As Sarah E. said, he is not going to really remember this and most parties that are done up with a lot of pizzazz cost a lot anyway. My niece had one of those blow out parties for her boy when he turned one with a lot of people that the family did not know except for maybe my sister. Lots of babies and toddlers that we did not know or their family members. My sister ended up footing the bill for pizza and drinks for about 50 people. My niece did not contribute a cent to it. Now this year for the second birthday, she wants another big blow out bash but she is starting to realize mom is not paying for it all and some places you have to rent to use and that costs alone not counting the cake (she wants my daughter to make and my daughter told her she needed funds to make a cake), invites, and clean up and so on. And so far the place she wanted to use was where we all were members of the church but she was not and her mom and I are still as far as I know....and we could use the church before now with no charge being members as long as we cleaned up but they want $125 for her to use it and this does not count cake, ice cream, drinks, snacks and goodies.

The babies are turning one. They won't care or remember the party. So plan something you will enjoy. I live in Chicago, so March is an indoor month. How many people?
