I'm just registered for school as a part time student after being out of school for 30 years. have a daughter that just turned 17. I've been a single mother for 17 years. I lost my job about 4 years ago and in turn lost my house and everything else. I haven't been able to find full time employment due to my age. I'm 51. I'm working part time at a grocery store. this is what I have after working in a law firm for 30 years.I got in school and pass the entrance exam which this is been the scariest thing I've ever done.I receive the Pell Grant but it's prorated because I can only take two classes because I have to work part time. I have no other income and I cannot meet all the financial expenses and obligations. I don't even have enough money for the books then I need to start school. I'm so lost at this point I really don't know what to do.

This is NOT impossible. I am an older student starting a very rigorous full time program, and had to complete other courses to qualify. Beings that you are an older student, often community colleges will give more to you. Look for student loans, get great grades and earn scholarships, and look for your books cheaper on line. Go to the financial aid office and talk to them. Ask for help and direction. That is what they get paid to do.

Have you checked with your institution? Many have programs in place for non traditional students (which is a very nice way of saying 'those of us who are a heck of a lot older than the normal college crowd). Check with the financial aid office, also with the bookstore and with the student center. At our local University, there is also a 'non traditional' center where other types of assistance and aid are offered.
Good luck with everything!
