I have a 2.6 year old son, and he is currently being assessed for aspergers and autism. But the huge problem is, (this usually goes along with the disorder) is that he wakes up in the night around 12 and doesn't go back to bed til around 5 am. He is quite happy during this time, and we keep him in his bed. My husband and I are so sleep deprived, and i have massive depression plus insomnia. So it all makes matters much worse. Our doctor prescribed melatonin, and we have tried it for a week. Doesn't seem to work. My son has a long bath and wind down period before bed, and we try to stay active most of the day. I was so sleep starved we called the crisis hotline, a doctor came to see me to give me sedation to sleep, while my husband took over care of my son.
We are losing it here, please...please any advice?

Praying, meditation, foods with L-typtophan amino acids such as chicken, fish, turkey, spinach may help promote sleep.
