Try pull ups. This way your child can learn when they are wet and dirty. Kids usually master the bladder first. Also, every now and then let them go naked to see what happens when they do have an accident. It is important not to get cross as accidents will happen so you're better off putting something down on the floor first. Also, let them come into the toilet to see how the whole shebang works, from pulling down pants, going to toilet, toilet paper, flush, wash hands etc. Kids learn pretty quickly and so long as they don't feel pressure, it will happen. Be patient and praise them and ignore the accidents and just clean them up without scolding them.
