Oh i know, they are so young it just doesn't seem fair! My daughter wants a laptop too! I was thinking about getting her one of those notebooks. They are "only" about $100. They don't do as much as an actual laptop, but there a great starter. I thought it would be great for school and at home. She wanted an ipad or something crazy expensive too! But i told her she could have her music, games, writing, and everything right on the laptop. Thank god she went for it!! I am actually pretty new to this site so i don't know my way around, but i would definetly like to keep chatting with you. I don't think most people realize what it means to be 29 and have a 10/11 yr child! We have always been mothers. If it's what you love it's not such a sacrafice, but we still missed out on some stuff i'm sure!

Hi Gina..it's crazy how 2ppl can live in 2 totally different states and be in the same situation..my daughters are usually very easy to please but they are getting older and want more expensive things..like my 11year old she wants a lap top this year..i can't afford to spend 300 dollars right now..i think she understands tho..chicago is great this time of year..downtown especially! I love taking my girl to see the christmas lights..beautiful! Maybe we should be pin pals or something.. Oh please don't mention period,i am sooo dreading this moment with my daughter, lol she's just a baby..

You sound just like me! I also am 29. I have a 10 1/2 yr old daughter. I stay at home. I hate the holidays! I try to be happy for my family, but something bad always happens to me in December! I'm just waiting to find out what it'll be this year! I live in Maine and i am disabled so our finances have been pretty tight too. But i have always taught my daughter that the holidays are about giving and not taking. We made a decision last year too give each other one big gift each. We still get her some smaller things too, i can't help it! But she only asks me for one thing. I just recently went on-line and started looking for posts. My daughter is getting ready to start her period. So i have been anxious about that. How is Chicago this time of year?
