Hi everyone :) I am a student a Cal State San Marcos ( and a single mom!), and I am doing a research project on mindfulness and parenting.

It is for an Applied Research in Human Development class. I am hoping to get a diverse group of parents to participate. It consists of a short survey with about 4 1/2 minutes of video. I chose to do this project because I am getting ready to transition into a social services career working with children and families. I am interested to see if there is a relationship between mindfulness and parenting behaviors. My hope is to be able to support the parents I will be working with to increase the parent child bond and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. The survey which is posted through SurveyMonkey is completely anonymous, and will only used within this class (HD 497 @ CSUSM) during the months of October and November 2012. Thank you so much for your help!

I am going to close the survey and start analyzing my data on Monday morning (Oct. 29). I will post a follow up discussion of the data in a couple weeks :)

HI Kelly-

Thank you so much for being willing to help. It is difficult to do research with moms because we are all always so busy being moms! So I really appreciate you taking the time to at least respond. The survey is posted through SurveyMonkey which is a respected and well used site for creating surveys in research. The survey can only be accessed through the link I posted above, which you can just copy into your browser and it will go straight to the survey. I understand that people my not be comfortable with following a link they are not familiar with, which is why I made sure to post my full name under my true Facebook profile, as well as my university and course name. If you start the survey, and decide not to finish it, you can just close it without any problems-it is completely anonymous.

Although the benefit of participation is primarily mine, my hope is that everyone who participates will benefit as well by learning a little about mindfulness.

Thank you so much!!

Christa
