Yes, of course, as long as you keep a few things in mind. Dress them appropriately for the weather & don't hang around people who are known to be ill. Over the last several years, Immunologists have learned that keeping a baby away from ordinary germs can lead to a compromised immune system later in life. This is one of the reasons we no longer recommend sterilizing baby's water or bottles. It's just not necessary. Breastfeed babies are getting an added help from their mother's immunities transferred in breast milk. Both breastfed & bottle fed babies benefit from being exposed to ordinary germs. It makes for a healthy immune system later in life. So, go ahead & take the baby out :)

Depends. I don't see why not if they are a healthy baby! I took my son shopping the day I came home from hospital, because (1) I had to buy a new fridge and (2) we then needed to replace all the spoiled food. However, with my daughter, she was born with extremely low birthweight, so I was more cautious taking her out to places where she may be exposed to illness, etc, as she simply couldn't afford to get sick.

Like has been commented previously, as long as the child is healthy it's fine. I personally was shopping when mine were a few days old because we needed food and my husband was working. With my 3rd we were shopping as soon as we left the hospital because she took us a bit by surprise and needed to get some things for her. That was the day after she was born.
