Hi, I have to say I'm not a mum....an unfulfilled wish....but I am like a mum to my nieces and nephews and one asked me for advice today and I'm not sure how to answer. She has a soon to be 5yr old girl with a waste of space that left her for a younger model when the child was not even 2 yrs old. He was very violent at the end and the police were involved. He is known to the police because of his drug taking and this has not changed. He has recently done exactly the same thing to that girl so its become a pattern. Every now and then he seeks access and has been to a solicitor regarding this but has never been consistent even with them in his attempts to get access. My question is, do we in England have a law like that of USA and Canada where after a certain length of time he loses his rights as a parent. He has not seen her for over 3 yrs now and but has bought her a christmas and birthday present one year.
