Hi! I need advice on my 5 month old's sleep patterns. He has been sleeping through the night since about 2.5 months or so. The last couple of weeks he wakes up 3-4 times a night, and now goes to sleep at. 11 or later. Any suggestions on how to get him to sleep earlier? We try rocking, feeding, and rubbing his back, but he is still wired.

Waking up 3-4 times a night is normal for this age. Sleeping through the night at 2.5 months actually can be a bad thing since they can become dehydrated so maybe count your blessings that he used to let you sleep.
when are his naps? how long does he sleep during those naps? He should be taking two naps, one in the morning and one after lunch. If he sleeps much later than that he will not feel too tired later in the day.
Make sure you have a bedtime routine. At this age, a warm bath around the same time every night then rocking and singing before bed should be enough.
My mother loves suggesting vanilla or lavender oil for their sheets. Since those are kinda pricey I've just used vanilla extract (not imitation) and put a few drops. The honest answer, I think it does help, since i use it on my pillows too lol. You can also buy lavender scented baby soap but I havn't seen a change when I used it.

He usually has one morning nap, and one afternoon nap. Sometimes he has two morning naps. One right after he wakes up and eats, and the other around 10 -11. His afternoon nap is anywhere from 1-3. He sometimes takes a cat nap around 4 or 5. (it is usually 30 minutes or so) The rest of the time he is up. We tried the bath before bedtime, but I swear with him, it does not work. It seems as if it makes him more cranky, and he is up just as long.
I'm going to try the scented oils, and see if that works. Thanks!
