Hey, My name is Dakota. I am 20 years old (21 in Nov) and have a beautiful 11 month old (Turning 1 on the 23rd of this month) daughter named Aubree Grace.
I have just found out I am pregnant with my second child, I am only 5 weeks along and I couldn't be happier.
My babies will have a 19 month age gap and that is exactly what I always wanted.
I breast feed still and hope to tandem nurse when my second baby arrives in Jan :)
I extend rear face and plan to until my daughter is at least 4-5. I also co sleep and love it! I believe whatever parenting method works for the individual should be respected :) Because we are all different.
I unfortunately had a traumatic birth with my first so am terrified for the next one but am taking all the steps to make sure its a smooth experience this time around :)
I am from Australia :)

Where are you all from? :)

Their legs fit fine :) they can cross them also which is much safer than having them forward facing.
If a child is in a forward facing accident they can get spinal decapitation, and it doesnt matter how strong their neck control is.
You can get seats that rear face that long, some people rear face til their kids are 8 and older. In some countries its illegal to forward face before 4 years of age. No one in Australia does it at all. So its hard to get car seats that do but there is one coming out at the end ofthe year :) Go on the net and google extended rear facing vs forward facing, there u can find all the safety info.
Also go on youtube and look at crash test dummies with forward facing vs rear facing. the difference is outstanding.
Actually the country that its law to rear face until 4 years of age has the lowest infant mortatlity rate due to car accidents in the WORLD which i think says it all :)
i didnt know anything about the safety before i googled it though, but once i looked into it and saw how much safer it is i instantly made the descion to do it :)
Just my personal choice :)

Oh My daughter doesnt move around much in her sleep so im lucky there lol we love co sleeping wouldnt have it any other way but everyone is different :)
And its good that your son can sleep in his own bed my daughter will not at all lol :)

Thank you :) I actually didnt know that there was a baby called Aubree on the show until after I had my daughter. I dont watch that show :)
I like Audrey but it was a bit too common then i saw Aubrey but didnt like the spelling so changed it :)

Its nice to be a young mum, my daughter wasnt planned but i wouldnt have it any other way :)

Thats interesting,i will definatly take a look at it and read about it. Its always nice to learn something new :) i personally had no clue that there are seats or that people even have there kids rear faced.I only knew when they are babies in the Maxi Cosi to put them in like that. I also like that i had my son at a young age,he was planned, married and all.
I watch the show :) i liked watching 16 and pregnant aswel.Interesting to see how they deal with it..or better said how some cant deal with being a parent at such a young age.I heard the name Aubree there.I find it a real nice name..do you already have names for the next baby?

Interesting :) I cant imagine where a 4-5year old would have space for their legs though..even a three year old actualy.I have never ever seen a child sitting like that in Switzerland, only babies in the Maxi Cosi.I dont even know if they sell car seats for toddlers that can be used like that.Do you get special ones? What did you find out about the it,where is the biggest difference about the safety? I am just curios, since i havent heard about it befor:)
We dont co sleep..we have tried it out but our son is/was just way to wriggely the whole night..he would constantly move, turn around..bump his foot into my face or letting his leg cover my face.I dont think he actualy likes co sleeping aswell lol.

I hope your pregnancy all goes well.Btw i love the name Aubree :) do you also watch Teen Mom on Mtv? I had my son when i was 21..turning 25 tomorrow.

Welcome.
My 1st birth was pretty horrible as well and I got induced with my 2nd and it was only a 20min labor and no stitches!!! The 1st was 11 hours and 37 stitches.

No birth is the same so go into this one with an open mind. Don't let your previous experience taint this one.

I'm in Australia as well.

Having the car seat rear facing instead of forward facing. Here in Australia its very common for women to turn their children around under 6 months of age and I have researched the safety of keeping them rear facing until they are 4-5 years old :)
