Hi, my son is 8 months old (16.5 pounds) and it's almost time to change car seats. I read some reviews on line saying convertible or 3 in 1 car seats are great. I thought it might be good to get something that grows with him but not sure how good they are. I've hurd that the Britax was the best car seat ever...Anybody willing to give me some recommendations before I make this big purchase. I have an SUV so size isn't really an issue. Thanks and can't wait to read all your comments :o)

Hi. I live in Canada also. I have had to switch all my kids at 3 months and have tried the eddie bauer safety first and my last one is an evenflo. I love it it sits very deep for the kids and you can take all the pieces out to wash it without removing the carseat! that by far is the best feature.

We have two, the Britax Marathon and an Alpha Omega. The Britax is the winner, hands down. My son is never comfortable in the other one, it's not as roomy, pinches his legs and when he falls asleep his head always flops forward. This doesn't happen in the Britax. I was hesitant at first because of the price, but it is so worth it. Not to mention that it has the highest safety ratings out there. The owner of our daycare is a pediatrician and car seat safety instructor. We had a lot of questions when making our purchase too and she said although any car seat is fine, the Britax is by far the best. That's what prompted us into buying ours and our only regret is that we didn't buy it sooner!

I reccomend taking your child with you to a store and putting him in a couple to get an idea of what size/style will work best for him. Some of the seats looks so cozy, but if your son is bigger or smaller than average, he will fit differently in the seats. My son has always been on the high end of the size chart so those big cushiony seats were not comfortable for him because he fit too snugly in them.

My friend is a certified car seat inspector. She said to look for a car seat that can seat a child backwards up to 35 pounds and forward facing up to 50 pounds. By the time your child is 50 pounds, he should be able to sit in a booster seat. Also, make sure it has a 5 point harness....hope this helps. If you look for one online, you should be able to look at the specifications and easily tell if it meets these requirements. I found a really good one on Wal-mart.com. My son loves it!

Hello, check out www.albeebaby.com for great deals on car seats. I first bought a alpha omega elite but months later caved in a bought the britax roundabout and a britax marathon. I should have just paid the extra money in the beginning. The roundabout only goes to 40 lbs..I recommend the marathon by britax...you wont regret it..there are really good deals right now on that site. or even target has free shipping on some car seats too. good luck
My sister bought the Britax Boulevard Click Safe seat for my nephew when he was about 7 months old. It's great because he could sit facing backwards when he was little and when he turned 1 she turned him around. She loves it, and it seems like it's a very high quality seat. Looks comfy too.
We bought a britax when my daughter was outgrowing her infant car seat. They are hands down one of the best out there. I was able to find it on sale since they are pricey, but there are very well made (we have a second cheaper brand for our other car). the one we have can be installed backwards until the child is one and then turned around. My daughter just got a booster to replace the britax and she is now five.
I too have the Evenflo Triumph and has had it for about 6 months, when my son turned 6 months old, and he loves it. We travel a bit as a family and it puts him to sleep almost every time. The cup holder even folds out so it's not always in the way. It's very well priced too, in comparrison to the Britax ones - especially in correlation with features and comfortability.

My daughter is 19 months old, and we have been using the Evenflo Triumph convertible car seat for over 7 months now and I have been very pleased with it. It also depends on how much extra stuff you want to come with it - cup holder, etc.. I didn't want too much that could come off the seat and be extra parts sitting around.
