Hi there, just had my baby few weeks ago which is my first child. How do I deal with people who voluntarily give me advise on how to take care of my baby, this happens everywhere from people that I know to strangers. So far I've been keeping my cool but it has started to freak me out, I feel suffocated by these advises. I am a nice person but I feel like I'll end up giving somebody a piece of my mind.

Just politely nod, and then let it go in one ear and out the other. :)

I think everyone does it, at least most everyone does it, It's almost like they can smell new mother when you walk by. Most don't mean any harm by it, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

If it helps, instead of listening to every word they say, you can think to yourself while they're talking, "This person cares about my baby and wants it to be happy and healthy". :) Of course, maybe I just have a very vivid imagination, but that's what I did and it helped me not to stress so much. Also then I could sincerely smile at the random old lady in the grocery store and say, "Thank you," because I was responding to her intention and ignoring her actual words.

Of course, it's much easier to let it roll off your back once you have some idea of what you're doing, so when the baby is a bit older and you're more confident it will be easier to deal with unsolicited advice.
