Are there any other moms out there with a child who has been diagnosed with Hirschsprungs disease? My 15 month old has it and I am looking for others who have experience dealing with a child who has it.

I'm In Oregon, but haven't met anyone nearby with HD yet. My son is almost 10 yrs old and has HD. We are in a Facebook network but I'm new on here. Best of luck, I'm always around for support if anyone needs it.

I know what the disease is. Son has gone through 3 surgeries to correct the problem. There are still special circumstances that he continues to face after the surgeries and I am looking for others dealing with the same sort of situation to talk with. It is always nice to be able to talk to others that have been in the same situation. But thank you.

Hirschsprung's disease, or congenital aganglionic megacolon, involves an enlargement of the colon, caused by bowel obstruction resulting from an aganglionic section of bowel (the normal enteric nerves are absent) that starts at the anus and progresses upwards. The length of bowel that is affected varies but seldom stretches for more than about 30 cm.
