He's getting full when you feed him, but he's doing two things at the moment:

1) He's naturally increasing your milk supply by frequently nursing

2) He's eating frequently because he has an itty bitty tummy and can't hold much. But, breast milk is easily digestible and can be processed a lot faster so he'll need to eat more frequently.

Is this tiring? Yes. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it normal? ABSOLUTELY! You're doing great, Mom. If he's sleeping well (anywhere from 1-4 hours at a stretch is about normal, anything over that is just gravy), eating well, having enough wet diapers, and gaining weight then you're doing just fine. :)

He's probably going through a growth spurt. If he's still peeing and gaining weight, he's doing just fine. Many moms are concerned about their babies not getting enough when they feed, and (as a peds nurse) I can say, voiding and weight gain are the best indicators of milk supply. If he's losing weight or not peeing, then be concerned and seek medical help. Otherwise, continue to feed on demand as it will increase your supply to his increasing needs as he grows. Good luck!

Hey, I understand completely. They throw a lot of info at you when you give birth about nursing and some how the one situation you're in never seems to come up in the info they give you. www.kellymom.com is an awesome website for any questions you have about nursing, weaning, breast feeding, pumping...anything at all, really. :)

Thank you so much. It's just sometimes it feels like you the only one experiencing this changes.
