Actually...according to the dictionary, "His·pan·ic adjective \hi-ˈspa-nik\
: coming originally from an area where Spanish is spoken and especially from Latin America; also : of or relating to Hispanic people"

Hispanic, in itself, is not a race, it is a reference to those of latino/a descent.

Officially, the U.S. Government has defined Hispanic or Latino persons as being "persons who trace their origin or descent to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America, and other Spanish cultures. The United States Census uses the ethnonym Hispanic or Latino to refer to "a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race

Now, who is being ignorant?
