Holiday Notes

Dear Moms,

Just wanted to say as this holiday season approaches, give your kids a hug for me. Thanks to changing school calendars, on alternate years in our family one parents sees next to nothing of the kids while the other gets them for the vast majority of the breaks, and this year my step-daughters won't be around much. It's part of the deal when you enter a divided family , and I know that. We have a great relationship, overall, with their mother and they are good, sweet girls. It's her time with them and since they're entering their teens, that time is more and more precious. But when I read about people who can't wait to get their kids *out* of the house over the break, I just want to offer to trade situations! I'd love to have them here driving me nuts.

So when the kids are hyped up on the holidays and driving you crazy, remember that I wish mine were really mine so that they could be here driving me crazy too. It's part of being a stepmother and not infringing on their real mother's time and rights, but man I wish they were here with me and their dad.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and wonderful holidays to you all!

I have to say, i love reading this. I think it is absolutely wonderful how much you love your stepdaughters. I'm sad to say i've seen posts on here where people hate their stepkids and want to know how to get them out of their lives. So it is refreshingly wonderful to see a stepmom who loves her sdaughters so much.

I'm with you on the holidays as well. I so miss having my kids home. They are grown and moved on now. We do have some grandkids though and i jump at the chance to bring them to my house. Refreshes my soul and their parents sanity. :)

Good for you
