Hello all mums,

Can anyone please suggest me a good home remedy for viral fever ?
My child is going to be two years old next week. He has running nose, cough( very little) , fever( buy fever goes up and down).
I consulted with doctor and she suggested me the calpol. Calpol only down the fever. After every 6-7 hours fever comes n goes.

Doctor asked me of other symptoms like vomiting, rashes, sore throat etc. but all these are not here by god grace. But my child weight is going down.

Please suggest me any good tip and remedy. I am badly worried for my child.

Thanks to all you my dear friends mums in advance.

Thanks and regards,
Mrs. Rajni

I would suggest an antioxidant and multivitamin to help with his immune system.

When your child has a virus, he will develop a fever. This is his body's own mechanism to kill the virus. Also, he will probably be sleeping more and not have much appetite.
How long has he been sick?
As long as he can stay hydrated, don't worry about food to much. You can tell if he is hydrated if he makes tears, he makes urine and the urine is light colored and his mouth is not dry. Offer light foods like cracker, broth and toast. When your child recovers, so will his appetite and he will gain back the weight.
I do not treat fevers with medication unless; it is over 102 or my child is very uncomfortable and crabby. If he is just sleeping I let it ride, remember the fever has a purpose. To lower a fever, you can give tylenol or ibuprofen, give your child a tepid bath, place cool washcloths on the forehead and at the groin.
It is scary when your child is sick, and getting thinner. They look so pitiful and weak. But if your child has a normal immune system and you just keep a close eye on him, the virus will eventually pass (may take up to 10 days). Good Luck!

If you child's coughing worsens or he seems to be struggling to breathe, then seek medical help without delay. Although uncommon, colds can develop into pneumonia.
Also, if your child complains of an unbearable headache. He likely will have a headache with the fever, but if it is so severe he cant tolerate it get a doctor to check him out.
