Well, clearly you've already decided on it, so go for it. I am simply pointing out that if your child is THAT far behind, then a tutor would be a far better option.

Look honey! I'm not judging u by no means. N I'm proud of u n what u choose for ur children. But I'm just trying to get someone else's opinion. Bc I definitely know urs. I want to know if they have worked for anyone. N just so u know it is going to take more than a DVD to catch my child up. I wish that is all I had to do to get her understanding math. If that was the case I wouldn't b trying to home School. N in my area I feel like my children would get the most out of home schooling. I wish we could just move n better school Districts but not the case right now. So I don't need ppl telling me what I need to do with my kids. I need to know what has worked for other mothers. N thought this web site was about supporting other mothers. Helping each other not telling them what they should do bc it has worked for there children. U being a Teacher should know that no child learns the same. I'm going to do what is best for my child anyway no matter what u say is lazy or not. I just thought w DVD we can pause each problem going over it till she gets it. Don't take nothing personal bc I stand by every mother that does the best thing for there children. Just wish u could do the same:-)

I AM a real mother, one that has never chosen to stick my children in front of a DVD to tutor them. Not sure what your idea of a "real mother" is...... Clearly because I mentioned I was also a teacher you decided I wasn't a "real mother". Nice.

Sticking your child in front of a DVD is NOT going to homeschool them!!!! It is lazy teaching!!!!

Seriously, I ask you, how happy would you be if your child came home from school every day and told you that their teacher put a DVD on for them? Probably not so happy......

Now ask yourself why you wouldn't be happy.

Interesting......

PS. Just thought I should add (in case you think I am not a real mother) I have children from age 8 to 21, none of whom were stuck in front of DVDs to teach them maths.

Consider a maths tutor, not a DVD. I am a high school teacher, and I get that some students struggle with some things, but with maths, practice is what is needed. A maths tutor is a much better option than a faceless DVD. At least then it can be programmed for your daughter's needs. Putting on a DVD to tutor your child is lazy.

Homeschooling your kIds via DVD? Is this a DVD for your kids, or is it a DVD to train you to teach them? I had a quick look and I get the feeling these are DVDs to actually teach your children with. Really? Um, no......if you want to homeschool your kids, I am not a fan of homeschooling via DVD.
