Hi! Totally new to all this!
My husband and I just moved into the area, and i've decided to homeschool our 7 year old daughter.
Anyone know of any support groups in the area? I've done my share of googling it, but to no avail :( Anyone else in the area homeschool?

Home School Legal Defense is an agency that is nation wide that our family uses to stay updated on changing laws, what is required for your state. They provide a monthly newsletter and legal help should you need it. We would highly recommend that.

Support: I'm not a great one to offer support--we live one hour from everything, so we keep to ourselves...but a good on-line newsletter for mothers homeschooling is She gives answers to many questions you may face.
They also have several resources that help with homeschooling---math and spelling drills.

We have homeschooled all 8 of our boys---two are in college. One decided to play football his senior year and is in public school for his final year (probably the last one to do this) The others are at home 1 grade, 4 grade, 6 grade, 8 grade, 10th grade.

My best advice for homeschooling is KEEP IT SIMPLE. There are a lot of wonderful curriculum out there--I have found going to curriculum conferences overwhelming--I stick to the basics and supplement with their interests. We have learned raising chickens, milking cows, riding horses, mechanics,...their interests determine the extras that we add. You can see my website for more details on those kind of things.

Sorry, that I cannot give you a local help--but sometimes a note from afar is better!
