At my sons 9 month appointment he was 29lbs 12.8oz and 30inches tall. for the first time since his 2 month appointment i was told and showed we where he was on the charts, 98 percentile across the board. The chart looked rediculous, it had 3 lines (not sure what the other two lines signify) but the line for my son was SOOOOO far above the others it was rediculous. i know hes a big boy, 10lbs 8oz and 24inches long at birth, and hes gona be big boy all but a handful of men in my family are 6'3" or better several are 6'8".

im just wondering two things.
1 what other babys weighted at the same age?
2 at what age other babys were a similar sizes?

My son was big for his age. He was 9 lbs 51/2 when he was born, he weighed 26 lbs at his 12 month check up. My daughter on the other hand has always been kind of tall and slim. She was 8 lbs at birth. She only weighed 28 lbs at her 3 year check up. She is almost 5 now and the last time she was weighed she was 38 lbs. But my son is still rather big for his age. He just had his 9 year old check up and was 4 ft 7 3/4 in and 92 lbs.

Wow. Yup he is a big boy, isn't he? :)

The percentiles can change a lot in the first 3 years. I don't think my son reached that height and weight until he was around a year. He was always around the 85th-90th for height and weight. My husband's family is super tall. My husband is 6'4, his dad is 6'8, his mom is 5'10 and his sister is 6'2.... but my family is pretty short-average, I'm 5'2.

My son is 3 years old and has now reached the 96th percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight. We're guessing he'll be over the 6 foot mark as an adult. He's the same height as most 4 year olds and people always think he's a year older than he actually is.

My MIL kept track of her children's height and weight from birth to 18 years old. For the first 2 years my son was quite a bit smaller than his dad at the same age but now he is right on track with the size his dad was. So yes, it can fluctuate. And all children grow at their own individual rate.

My daughter is almost 18 months and I think she's approximately the same size as your 9 month old! I calculated her percentiles a few months back and she was in the 65th percentile for weight and the 45th percentile for height. She's short like me. ;)

Our youngest is 6mths tomorrow and he's 20lb & 26inches.
Our eldest, who will be 2 on halloween is about 31lb, 35.5inches. At 9mths he was about 21lb & 29inches so almost the same as our youngest is as 6mths.

My son was just under 7lb and 21in at birth.

At 9 months, my son was around 18lbs and 28 inches.

He's 13mo now and is around 21lb and 30in.

You've got a big boy. :)

At 9 months my son weighed about 10kg so 22 pounds. He didn't get to 13kg until about 18 months. I thought he was a big boy lol

Well... my 3.5 year old was 31 pounds at his 3 year check up.... ;) He is over 3 feet tall, but I'm not sure how many inches over 3 feet he is.

I don't remember any of my kids sizes at 9 months. I do remember that the 9 month check up was the first time my girls (twins) were even ON the chart for height though... around 50%. They had finally made it on the chart for weight (50% and 75%) at their 6 month check up. They started out tiny... 5lb 4oz and 4lb 11oz. My son started out at a bigger 7lb 2oz and was double that around 3 months. His growth slowed down a bit from there though. I 'think' he was around 19 pounds at 9 months... ??

Their father is only 5'8" and I'm only 4'11"

I just checked my daughter's baby book. She was always a big baby (9lb 6oz, 22in at birth) and always 95th percentile of above. At 9mths, she was 10.5kg/23lbs and 74cm/29in. She didn't reach your son's weight until about 18mths.

Yeah, my kid's always been a tall drink of water. At that age, he was in the 95th percentile for weight, and the 99th for height. The growth DOES slow down quite a lot in their second year, though. But it is very likely that you'll have a big boy on your hands, from what his genetic background seems to indicate.

Well I am not sure at 9mo's. But all my kids probably weren't close to almost 30lbs till they were at least 2.

My 21 month old is 33 inches and 26 pounds and everyone calls her a chunker. She was only 6lbs 13oz and 18.5in at birth. My son was 8lbs 3oz and 21.5in at birth and I know at a year he was about 30in and 25ish pounds. I am 5'10 and their daddy is only 6'-6'1.
