My son is now 14 years old and is Bipolar and ADHD. We have had issues through the years with violence in school and having him on an IEP. He was removed from our home district when he was 12 years old and put into a level 4 school which is locked down. I tried to speak to the school district about Marcus being bullied and nothing was ever done about it. My son was moved back to the home district and he was bullied by teachers and students and refused to go to school. I finally went into the school for an updated IEP meeting only to find the same bullying from the special director, math teacher and the special ed teacher. It blew my mind that adults were really as horrible as my son was saying they were. I mentioned to in the meeting that I was thinking about removing my son from the district and to a charter school. Immediately they threatened to file truancy on my son so the state would be involved and I would lose control of any decisions over my son. I walked out of that meeting and didn't send my back to the school. My son has got a horrible outlook on adult teachers and has a hard time giving them a chance, so when he started at the new school went 1 day and won't go back because he don't want to have a phyed class.. I just don't know what to do he is a big boy with a mind of his own and if he gets mad he won't do anything. Any advice would be great

What about home schooling now? Lots of people are certified to do so. Wherever you live also see if the have a school designed to children with special needs. Definitely stat away fron thise who want to het state involved. Regular public schools..the kids may be starting the problems to because they know he has special needs. Its sad but bullying is getting worse!

Thank you Megan. I thought about home schooling him. But he is the type that wouldn't do the work and would just find an excuse to not do it. I need to find ways that I can go about getting him interested in school again. I also need to find a lawyer that is willing to listen to me as a parent and the happenings at this school district. They traumatized my son to the point he doesn't trust any adult.
