I'm looking for advice on how to deal with our six year old's new found obsession with doodling -- on anything BUT paper. She just learned how to draw stars, and is so excited she has drawn them on my dining room chair, the microwave, the doorframe, you name it.
I have taken away all her art supplies as punishment, and dole them out when I can spend time supervising. But then she steals a pen out of my desk while I am out of the room.
I don't want to stifle her creativity, but at the same time she needs to learn respect for other people's belongings. She knows where the paper is kept. She has tons of notebooks that are just hers. So why the "tagging"?
I need to nip this one before school starts and she is given textbooks. (Oh, I shudder at the thought!)
