How can I get my milk supply back up?

My baby is almost four months old, and he has a BIG appetite. I was always scared that I wasn't making enough milk so I began supplementing with formula. I decided I wanted to wean him a couple of weeks ago. I started giving more and more formula until I was only breastfeeding him once or twice a day. He recently became very sick, and I want to begin exclusively breastfeeding him. Does anyone have any advice on if I can do this? and how I can build my milk supply back up? I don't want to give him any formula because I feel like it's giving him really horrible constipation. He's much more cranky and irritable. It would be a life saver if I could begin to breastfeed him exclusively!

My midwife suggested buying fenugreek capsules and blessed thistle capsules, then taking 3 each 3x a day. It's supposed to work wonders. (fortunately just nursing constantly worked for me, so I never tried it)

Hello, I know how disconcerting it is when you want more milk supply. As a mom I tell you this because it worked FOR ME. I breast fed my almost 5 years old son, who btw is too smart for his own good. Im still breastfeeding my 11 month old daughter. Both healthy as can be (thank God). When both kids were 3-4 months, I noticed that my milk supply went down significantly. I was told to drink on beer a day and that that would help pump up my supply. At first, I was in disbelief and hesitated to do it but i got really worried and tried it out. I had a beer around mid day and I tell you, Gods honest truth that by that same night I felt my breast fuller with milk and even engorged by the next morning. I'm telling you this is what I did and some think its not that great of an idea because of the small alcohol content that might go through your breast. The outcome worked for us and totally avoided supplementing both my kids with formula which is what I adamantly did not want to do.
