My 7yr old Has ADHD & OCD he takes meds for the ADHD,he is a sweet and loving child, but also can be very belligerent and mean at times, but only at home. Should I be concerned and would therapy help w/both ADHD & OCD? He is a perfectionist which affects his schoolwork, constanly retracing his letters and erasing.

My son is 4 so dealing with a 4 yr old and 7 yr old are probably totally different.

I give my son another option of something he can do when he's angry instead of what he can't do.

He's not allowed to shout and scream in the living area but he is allowed to do it in his room.

He 's not allowed to kick and hit us but he can kick and throw a ball outside.

Sometimes he just needs to get it all out and have stomp around and scream and then he's fine.

Don't know how well that would work with and older child though.

Emotional changes are one of the side effects of Adderal. Thiscould be the problem. Has he been this way for a while or just recently?

Hi Katherine, I appreciate you responding my son was diagnosed May of 2010 at the end of that school year. He is currently taking Adderall XR 20mg a.m. ,Respidal 0 .25mg & Adderall XR 15mg in the p.m. He was taking Resipal 0.25mg in the pm, but the doctor discontinued that dosage.
