my little girl is painfully shy when it comes to group activity at nursery, she is happy one to one or with friends, but when it comes to joining in with adult lead activities she hides her faces, crys and will move away saying she doesnt like it.
it really upsets me to see her like this and with her ready to move into pre-school im really worried it will start to affect her more.
please help,i love her to bits and want her to be happy.

Don't push her, she'll get over it with love and support better than anything. I agree maybe try something she enjoys like ballet, and encourage her to do things like count out the chage at the store an give it to the lady or ask someone she doesn't know for what she wants. The play date Idea is a good one too.

apparently i was really shy when i was young to the point i would answer the teacher during role call at school until i was in grade 2 and when i finally did i hide behind the kid infront of me.. anyway my mum said the best thing she ever did was put me into dancing.. she hasn't shut me up since... so i think don't push her like JuLeah said its ok to be shy but maybe see if there is a team sport or something that she might be interested in, it may just open here up to other children and adults.

Play dates .... just one kids, then two, then three ... don't puch her, it is okay to be shy and kids just kind of need to work through it
