Okay, the reason the head was elongated at birth was because of the birth process. It is a tight space that baby is coming out and sometimes it can cause the head to come out looking long. Usually a short time after birth the head gets into a more normal shape.

That link leads to a site with a more informed answer to the question.

I do not know of or never heard of doing anything to keep a baby from having an odd shaped head at birth because as I said earlier the baby comes out in a space that is very small compared to baby's size.

It is common for a baby's head to be a bit odd shaped for a few days and will even out as soon as it can. You should not really try to shape it to normal yourself for you could cause injury to your baby. Read the article through and it should have some good advice.

As for not kicking yet--most do not start kicking that you can feel it until about four months anyway. If you are concerned talk to your doctor.
