How can I stop finger sucking?

My 11 month old son is a determined finger-sucker. Are there any remedies that can break him from this habit? I cannot find any products that I used to see all the time to make the finders taste nasty, hot sauce doesn't work. Please help. I do not want him to have crooked teeth and other issues that come from this. Thanks.

well he is only 11 months. He won't get crooked teeth just yet. Most kids will just stop on their own. Sometime between 2-4 they will learn how to cope better and should stop on their own.

If it continues past 3 maybe it's time to start the process. limit the time when they are "allowed to do it" For example ask them to try not to do it when out in public but in bed is fine. Praise them when they don't do it. When you catch them doing it ask them if they realize they are. Don't yell at them for it just let them notice they are doing it. if all else fails put gloves on them so they can at least realize they are doing it. (because at this age they can easily pull it off)

And don't use those nasty tasting things on him. that is just cruel to do.
