Well If he's eating from a spoon then what I did was slowly dilute his milk with water until it was all water or he didn't like it anymore. I started out with 3/4ths milk and 1/4th water then every 3 days add more water and less milk by 1/4th. Then as you are doing this put whole milk in a sippy cup and encourage the cup at mealtimes when he eats with a spoon. You could encourage milk in a small regular childs cup with no lid to see if he thinks it's fun to drink out of a big boy cup! He may spill alot at first but it will be fun and he may like it. It is all about the sucking of the bottle and you have to find a creative way to introduce different types of cups with him but you have to get the milk out of the bottle first and into the cup. Try diluting the milk and start with 1/4th ounce.

mix the rice with milk, or put a lil sugar with the rice. add water to the milk in the bottle and intoduce the sippy cup with regular milk in it. Then every couple of day's add more and more water to the milk till he either doesn't take the bottle any more or it's all water.

You should't use sugar to get the child to try anything  Just remember you're  the boss.  Stand firm it only takes once.  Take it and thats that.  One day I just started giving him water and if he didn't like it then he don't drink it untill he gets hungry enough then theirs his water still waiting for him to drink it!  Same thing goes for food, the minute you start letting them tell you what they like and don't like they'll be telling you what to cook.  You cook, they eat or they go to bed hungry. Besides I can't see kids wasting food and being picky.  Its not mean its disciple, not letting them control you.  Once they figure out you mean business and your the boss they eat just about everything and that goes for many many other aspects of life.

Why do you need him to eat rice reg would be the first question. You need to get all bottles out of the house. Be pateint and use your best judgement. If he is 3 y old then he prob should be off bottles and pacifiers all together. Good luck !

umm. ok.... you need to elaborate wether its a 3 nyear old or 3 month old...

if its a 3 yr old... throw the damn bottle in the bin and should be eating more than rice.

3 months which im assuming is what you meant. i dont think you should be too concerned about stopping the bottle. why do you want to stop the bottle at 3 months?

Im sorry biza i dont agree with your whole controll thingy... we all have likes and dislikes with foods. and my kids certainly dont tell me what to cook.. they arnt dogs that are trained to sit for food... they are little people

If you are talking about a 3 year old, don't let him have a bottle anymore. Throw them all away and only use sippy cups. When my son was 12 months old, I would give him a sippy cup of milk before bed (avoiding him being in bed with a bottle or cup), when he was done, he'd go right to sleep. Probably earlier than most parents do it, but he transitioned nicely and it worked. Remember, you are the boss, kids are not.

3 month old should still have a bottle, if you meant a 3 year old, just take it away, eventually he'll get thirsty and drink from a sippy cup, that is way too old for a bottle, isnt he biting off the nipple???

Does he eat table food?  Because my 19 month old was about just after a year and I just gave him a sippy cup at night to go to sleep one night and that was that.  If they throw a fit you have to ignore it.  Just show him how the cup works and make him use it, by never showing him a bottle again.  He definately is too old to be eating out of a bottle though.
