i teach her one night the 4 shapes that she can easily know like the SQUARE, CIRCLE, RECTANGLE and TRIANGLE then she PERFECTLY memorize it, so my next step is the numbers 1-5... She knows it, but when i repeat it again, she won't listen... so i return to the shapes she told me she don't know.. i don't know what to do. can you please help me?

Repetition is the most effective, but I agree with the other ladies. You don't need to be sitting down and having a *lesson*. Just use every day occurances to teach. Things like going for a walk, you can look at shapes (signs, houses-windows, doors, etc), colors (cars, houses, signs, street lights), numbers and letters (house numbers, licence plates, signs, store names, etc). At home, you can teach animals (toys-ask her to get you a specific animal toy, ask what that animal says), body parts (bath time, changing time, fun time. Ask her to point at body parts that you name. Make it fun. Tickle those parts when first naming them for her), colors (ask her to pick out a specific colored toy, or find something that is a specific color).

She's only 2. Don't worry too much about her having things down perfectly yet. I would say that even if she gets something right 50% of the time, she's doing pretty darn good. It means she knows what it is. When she gets it wrong, there could be a million different reasons (she's distracted, doesn't feel like it, hungry, tired, bored, etc etc etc).

Just relax and have fun :) That's the best way to teach :)

Exactly what Dove said. Look for things all around you to use as teaching moments as you play. Rote memorization never works for long.

She's 2. Two year old's learn best through play... not rote memorization. Just play w/ her and point out shapes, colors, letters, and numbers in her every day environment. Don't make a 'lesson' out of anything... just have fun.
